The northern part of Joshua Tree National Park lies in the Mojave desert, often called the high desert, as most of it is between 2,000 and 4,000 feet (600-1,200 m) above the sea level.
The area is famous for its large groves of Joshua Trees, and this is one of the very few places where the trees can actually grow, but I found many other beautiful plants in the rather dense vegetation along my route called The Westside Loop.
